WAPAF-Widening Adult Participation fund
The aim of the project was to find ways of ensuring that refugees obtain education, training and employment that is at a level appropriate to their skills and experience.Back on November 2004 we started off by providing a mentor training program in order to train people as peer mentors, who would support others in their community. As time has gone by the mentor’s role has evolved by acting as interpreters and doing advocacy work. As part of the WAPAF research events have been held, everyone who participated in the scheme was invited. The participants who attended were asked to be interviewed for a DVD that will contain interviews and footage of participants at work and in college demonstrating their mentoring skills.

Junior Evolution
“Junior Evolution” is a Youth project based in the parkfield area of Stockon on Tees. The project works primarily, but not exclusively, with children aged betwen 8 and 13 years old from the BME (black minoroty ethnic) communities.
Currently the project supports two homework groups on tuesdays and thursdays.
Junior Evolution aslo plays an important role with regard to working in a partnership with schools and teaching children cultural diversity.
We also have workshops centred on cultural awareness and cooking, to see more information click here.
